For My birthday Derek arranged for our friends the Mejia's to watch the boys while we went out to eat.  When we got back she had made a cake for her daughter (who's birthday is on the 18th) and we ate it together.  She put three candles on the cake for my 3 (plus) decades of life, and sung to me.

Then we took one off one candle and sang to her daughter who was turning two. Then we too one more off so that there was only one candle left for Eli. Then we sang to him!

So much fun, and so sweet of them to share their cake with us and make it a celebration for all of us.

On Eli's birthday day we tried to go hiking on the Grotto trail. We packed all the boys in the car and headed for Payson canyon.  It took a little longer than I had anticipated to get to the canyon and even longer than that to get to the trail head. When we got there there was still some snow along the trail and the boys now wanted NOTHING to do with hiking in the snow. We got Eli in the backpack, pried the bigger boys out of the car and onto the trail and realized that we had a matter of minutes to hike before we had to be headed home for Hyrum to catch the bus.  We just hiked to the top of the first big hill and called it.  We dragged a crying Noah back to the van who was now very excited to hike. Hyrum was disappointed too. With promises to try it again soon we headed home.

After school it was a steady stream of Hyrum and Noah's friends in and out of the house. Eli stood by the front screen when they were in front and  by the sliding door when they were in the back. Hyrum and Noah had given him their gifts and they and their friends played with them while mostly watched.

We then headed out to McDonald's for our birthday dinner. Not that Eli really had any say in it. But graciously he had no protests.

Then it was home for video game playing for the bigger  boys and skying and showing off his mad walking skills ( behind a new push toy from Mema and Papa) fort the birthday boy on Skype with grandparents, Aunts and cousins. We sure love this little guy

And we're totally going to make it up to you next year.
