Noah's birthday was Sunday the 20th of February. It was going to be an insane day that we wouldn't see Derek much so we decided to celebrate on Saturday. We went shopping on Friday for his birthday and Hyrum picked out what he wanted to get Noah. He was so excited to give it to him (play with it himself) that as soon as he woke up he had to give it to him. It was all I could do to get him to help me wrap it.

(although this picture was taken after it was unwrapped of course)

Then we got out our gift to him

We pretended that he loved it

but really every time we put him in it he just cried.

I think he may have known he was getting the shaft. In a way we did better by Noah. We didn't get Hyrum anything for his first birthday ( or Christmas for that matter ). Maybe that's why Hyrum was so excited for all of the gifts Noah got for his birthday.

We did get out the "King for a day" highchair embellishments.

Noah did love that.

He loved his cupcake even more
Don't know why I thought a candle on a one year olds cupcake was a good idea.

(Sorry this is blurry. It was a bit of an afterthought and then it was too late to make it clearer.)

We did skype with Grandma and Grandpa Tangren to open his gift from them. He unwrapped the box and then just wanted to sit on it.

He was happier than peach pie just to sit on top of the box. It was all we could do to get it out of the box and on the rocking horse they got him.

He loved that too though.

So did Hyrum

The next day, Sunday, his actual birthday we skyped with Mema and Papa Wadsworth do open his other gifts. He loved that too especially when he finally got some time to play on it. Hyrum loved it too.

All in all I think Noah deserves a big birthday next year. I love this little guy. Can't believe my baby is one already. But at the same time I don't really remember what it was like without him.

Happy Birthday Big Boy.

What do you think? Do they look alike?

This last Sunday Hyrum gave his first talk in Primary.

Seriously can't believe he's that old already.

I asked him to fill in with a scripture a couple of weeks ago in Primary spur of the moment and he did pretty good but with a little preparation and Dad by his side I think he did GREAT!!

It was funny because all of the kids doing things in Primary that day had newbie parents (meaning this was the first time for their first born). We were all nervous and excited. I couldn't contain myself and had to video it. In part because Derek's mom wanted to come down to see it and couldn't. I thought to late that I should have taped everyone and emailed it to all the parents.

Without further ado...the talk

SOOOO... the file is too big. We'll have to make do with a picture.

And here's the text...

Heavenly Father has a plan for me
I lived in heaven before I came to earth
I got a body
I can learn about Jesus
I learn what's good and bad
I can have a family
If I am good I can live with Jesus and Heavenly Father and be with my family
In the name of Jesus Christ amen (Hyrum likes to add another amen at the end...just in case you don' t know the program. )

I wanted it to be his words as much as possible so we had a family home evening about Heavenly Father's plan for us and then asked him questions. When I asked him where he lived before he came to earth he first said "South America". Interesting. No idea where that came from.

but I guess he does speak Spanish

and German for that matter

We love Hyrum and can't stand it that he's getting so big.

We're starting to see the real Noah Tangren. He seems like he's going to be a lot of fun. He gets most animated at night thus most of these videos are him in his pj's and sleeping bag. We see that victory dance after EVERY basket. And he'll just crawl down the hall and before long I'll hear the baskets dropping, he loves that thing.

Hyrum and Noah have found a new game to play with Dad. They ( or at least Hyrum) call it "Jump". It probably started last summer.

During the time Derek was home from church between meetings I heard giggling in the other room.

Of course Noah couldn't be left out

Probably not the BEST Sunday activity but for goodness sake we have boys, and we're working on finding better Sunday activities. Any suggestions?

Noah doesn't say much but he absolutely knows how to communicate his desire for "jumping" which has evolved as he's gotten bigger.

He will just bounce until you throw him and then comes the big smile...and more bouncing.

They now take turns doing their "jumps" ( which of course as you can see is not jumping at all...it's throwing)

The other night they were "jumping" and I was hearing Hyrum talk about different kinds of jumps. I got a few action shots

The snowboard

The walking man

I've got some adrenaline junkies on my hands for sure.
