We all crashed fairly early for our normal minus Noah who had tried to fall asleep at 7 and had ended up getting a power nap and was ready to play when we got to the hotel. This morning Derek was up at 6:30 ( his normal work wake up time ) but the rest of us who are accustom to the more leisurely lifestyle woke up more around 8. Derek had my previous mentality thinking “Maybe we can get out of here at 7:30! And then we’ll see all kinds of things in Yellowstone!” We didn’t get out at 7:30 BUT we did get out and on our way by 9...not before taking advantage of the photo opportunities in St Anthony though!

Then we were off to our next adventure, Yellowstone National Park. We’d originally planned on being in Yellowstone on Derek’s birthday. But after getting a late start and finding NOTHING anywhere within an hour and a half of the park to stay the night (which was a good thing since we’d gotten such a late start) we rushed through it today. We basically only saw “Old Faithful”, which is kind of like going to Disneyland and only going on the Dumbo ride. Iconic, sure, but there is SOO much more to see.

While we waited for Old Faithful to erupt Hyrum kept saying "10, 9, 8, 7, 6 ,5..." We'd stop him around that point.

Then when it did start to go he screamed "It's about to ERUPT!!" He had everyone around us laughing.

We stopped a few times to take pictures of the scenery. Derek kept mentioning how beautiful it was and how there was no other place in the world like it in the world, which is true, but I just kept thinking “It reminds me of Michigan." Not the geysers, hot pots and sulfer pots of course but around Yellowstone lake …absolutely!

Hyrum wanted to read a book but we wanted him to look at the scenery and all the cool things there. Then we got to a part of the park that had been in a wild fire previously. Hyrum said “Mom, let’s read the book now there’s no more cool things, there’s just a bunch of burned trees!”

Our next stop was my cousin Annette’s house in Cowley Wyoming. The boys became FAST friends with her boys Trace and Mason. Mason and Noah look and act very much alike. The boys jumped on the trampoline

while the girls (her daughter McKelle and Annette and I) sat and talked. The big boys (her husband Justin and Derek) soon came out to join us. We had popsicles all together on their patio.

We went over to the beautiful house they are building and got all kinds of ideas of what we wished we had in our house. All too soon we had to leave. We would have LOVED to stay longer and catch a bite to eat with them. We were intrigued by the “Cow town” restaurant. That sounded like an experience, something that would have absolutely been chronicled in this blog, but we had mountain passes to cross that we wanted to do in the day time.

And. It. Was. Beautiful!!

Made Derek pretty nervous but it was sooo sooo soooo pretty. And we saw a MOOSE and a BLACK BEAR! (Also a deer and a rabbit but they don’t count as much)

It was so green and lush at the top but I ran out of space on my memory card so I had to ration my pictures. BOO!

We got to the hotel and Noah looked like he was fading. I was sure that he’d crash as soon as head hit pillow but as soon as they got in the hotel room both boys went crazy, running around, jumping on beds, unrolling toilet paper, hitting mirrors, screaming, laughing and definitely not winding down to go to bed. I figured it was because they’d been cooped up for so long in the car. So I took them in the hallway and swore them to silence and had them run the length of the hotel. Twice! They slowed down to read stories ( although there were a few outbursts) and they were out rather fast. (Granted it was after 11)
